Construction projects can create significant exposure for organizations that are unaware of the risk associated with excessive cost, project delays and quality issues. This 2-day course was developed by, and taught by, Nick DiMola and Paul Flora and focuses on the cradle-to-grave approach to audit construction projects and related activities in each stage of the Construction Life Cycle-Planning/Design, Bid/Procurement, Construction and Close-Out.
Detailed audit strategies are reviewed to address the risk and exposure of each phase of the Life Cycle - with emphasis on the construction project delivery and compensation methodologies. The course includes a review of information that should be considered to assist in (1) identifying which projects should be audited and the elements that should be considered when designing audit work plans (2) developing strategies to minimize risk in each phase of the Life Cycle; and (3) establishing audit approaches to address contractor overcharges and improve oversight and compliance, thus mitigating the risk of fraud. The course also covers audit strategies and approaches to address risk and exposure related to environmental compliance, mega-projects and safety.
Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a St. John's University Certificate of Achievement. This program is also eligible for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits through NASBA.
Continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments will be provided. Students will be on their own for lunch. There are many eateries close to our campus.
